The following items must be entered before the assigning process can begin: league structure, game schedule, field location and referee approval.
Assignment periods are set for various reasons:
To give advanced notice for referees to update their availability calendars
To ensure that all center assignments are assigned first
To establish a routine assignment process
When the "update calendar" deadline date has passed, the Officials Assignor may schedule officials for the assignment period. The scheduling of officials can be done using one or both types of scheduling (Auto-Scheduling or Manual Scheduling), in any order. LeagueGM assigning does not allow for double booking of assignments. Once a referee has been assigned to a game he is then marked as unavailable for any additional assignments during that time period and is also placed at the bottom of the assignment queue.
The auto-scheduler fills assignments in accordance with the official’s competency and availability and placement in the assignment queue. Auto scheduling fills assignments in the following manner:
Use of assignment queue
Referee qualification
Referee availability and preferred location
Descending order of difficulty - Higher level games first.
Center referees are assigned first, followed by assistant referees.
The Officials Assignor may manually assign a referee for many reasons, such as assessment games or last minute game re-scheduling. Once a manual assignment has been scheduled, auto assigning will not reassign.
When a new assignment is received, the official may or may not accept it automatically depending upon the league’s assignment acceptance policy. LeagueGM offers three methods of acceptance.
Assumed Acceptance – no refusals permitted
All-or-nothing Acceptance – all assignments accepted or refused
Individual Assignment Acceptance – officials can choose which assignments to accept or refuse
